On September 1st 2023, the "New Regional Bauhaus" (NRB) was opened in Heerlen. NRB is a cooperation project between the Chair and Institute for Urban Design and European Urbanism at RWTH Aachen University, the municipality of Heerlen, the Province Limburg and the Stadtsregio Parkstad Limburg. The new "dependance" in the city center of Heerlen is an important symbol of cooperation for students, teachers and researchers across border. The building has served as a venue for the "International Building Exhibition (IBA) Parkstad Limburg" over the past decade. This space will now serve as a local, regional and international contact point for topics related to building culture, sustainability and inclusion, aligning with the EU's New European Bauhaus initiative. The New Regional Bauhaus is one of the first realized key projects of the Zuid-Limburg spatial strategy.

SYMPOSIUM "ON TOP OF"

We are delighted to present the results of the Euregional Spatial Strategy Zuid-Limburg at the "On Top Of" symposium in Heerlen on September 1st. The symposium delved into cross-border spatial visions and explored potential steps towards their realization.
