The urban development concept for the former Glashütte site in the south of Gerresheim is based on three guiding principles and objectives:
The definition of a new brand for the Düsselpark
The functional and spatial connection to the surrounding context
The combination of built and open space quality
The concept envisages the completion of the existing "park ring" on the Düssel (an affluent of the river Rhine). The new Düsselpark will complete the overarching ring of green spaces in Düsseldorf's urban area and thus close an important gap in Düsseldorf's large-scale open space network.
